Skepta & WizKid Energy (Stay Far Away) [Audio]
North London meets Nigeria, Grimes very own Skepta has teamed up with Nigerian Afrobeat star WizKid for a new single titled 'Energy (Stay Far Away)' but don’t let the title fool you, this song will have you on constant vibe mode all summer long. The song marks the second time the two have been on a track together, Skepta previously collaborating with Drake on WizKid's 'Ojulegba' remix.
Deviating away from his usual style, Skepta uses compact bars to compliment the relaxed melody, he raps, “they better get used to the flex / African man, you see the jewels on my neck.” WizKid comes in with the chorus, singing “just give me love for the night,” aiding the atmospheric tone. This type of Afro-minimal rhythm is yet to be a major theme explored by the UK scene, 'Energy' proves how versatile Skepta’s music can be and how crossovers between different genres can create a masterpiece. No confirmation on a music video or if this song is part of an upcoming project for Skepta, but what we do know is the audio has dropped just in time for your heatwave parties.
