Ossie to headline the launch of ROOM TWO | A new London club night aimed to champion the progression of black electronic dance music

London based DJ and producer OSSIE will headline the ROOM TWO launch event in July 2024

Apparently, the vibe is always in ROOM TWO! Don’t believe us? Well here’s the opportunity for you to find out for yourself. Next month sees the launch of an exciting new North London club night, taking place at Moko, Tottenham. With the aim to champion and platform the progression of black electronic music within London’s underground club scene, ROOM TWO sets out on a journey to celebrate and spotlight an exceptional selection of underground talent.

London based DJ and Producer Ossie, will become the first headline act, performing to an intimate invite-only audience of 150 people on Friday 26 July 2024. Ossie is an undisputed force within the electronic dance and club scene. His musical sound can be described as a captivating blend of house, bass, UKG and disco; characterised by infectious rhythms and deep basslines. He’s no stranger to the big stages either. With a career spanning over 10 years, Ossie is a favourite amongst many tastemakers, having received notable support from the likes of Gilles Peterson, Benji B, Annie Mac and more. From Boiler Room sets to most recently playing at FABRICLIVE for 25 Years of Zed Bias, Ossie’s musical essence has spread far and wide across the dance music industry globally.

Last year saw Ossie working alongside Skepta and Jammer, with a number of collaborative music releases via the house duo’s Más Tiempo record label. ‘Mas Murder / Touch Me’ became the very first Más Tiempo release with Ossie leaning into the depths of deep/tech house on ‘Touch Me’ with Jammer and J Kolo. The Harry Stone vocalled ‘Smoke In Your Eyes’ became an infectious follow up track by Skepta and Ossie, leading Ossie into 2024 with the release of his ‘Unstable EP’ which absolutely slaps so take a listen below! The collaboration has seen Ossie take to North London’s Drumsheds and now onto Crystal Palace Park for the Big Smoke Festival next month.

Whilst Ossie is fortunate to have such opportunities at this scale, it’s no secret that London nightlife is not the most catered, for black cultured audiences. The rise of Amapiano has been an incredible infusion of afro house sounds into club spaces across the city, however, black electronic music spans far wider than the sounds of South Africa. There is an appetite for fresh music, new sounds and different experiences. Whilst commercial clubs and promoters cater to those, that want to hear all the songs they already know six times in one night, other audiences wish to feel musically educated. Afro-Tech, a beautiful blend of Afro, funky and deep/tech house sounds is becoming a much desired music preference for club goers - but where do you go to hear and experience this type of music on a regular basis? It’s super difficult to run a random search online and seek a good night out, where you’ll love the music and the crowd simultaneously. Not to mention, the lack of opportunities for emerging talent. If accessible spaces are not in existence, then developing music scenes simply cannot grow. It’s not to say we don’t have any great parties, we do… From SUPA D, Kismet and Feva’s Originals to Sef Kombo’s Til Two and of course Más Tiempo - as well as talent led parties by the likes of Hitty (Hitty X and Glove Seazon), Hagan (Hagan & Friends) and Juls fantastic run of headline parties. These events are absolutely incredible but they only take place once in a while.

“This is much more than just another electronic club night,” shares the founders of ROOM TWO. “ROOM TWO was birthed to specifically create a credible platform which can continuously spotlight DJs and producers, operating within black electronic music spaces. The opportunities within the entertainment scene for black music has always been limited; we simply want to do our part to create an impactful shift and ensure that necessary spaces are in existence to inaugurate real growth.”

Speaking on being the headliner for the ROOM TWO launch, Ossie shared the following thoughts: “I'm incredibly excited and inspired to be headlining the launch of ROOM TWO. In a time when there are far too few nights dedicated to celebrating black DJs and Producers and the rich history of our music, ROOM TWO feels like a breath of fresh air.

It's an honour to be part of something that truly acknowledges and amplifies the voices and sounds shaping the London electronic music scene. I'm thrilled that ROOM TWO will be an intimate night as it allows me to properly engage with the crowd. I plan to take them on a journey through my music, creating a truly immersive experience that will be electric! I can't wait to see where this journey takes us all!"

Well the DSTNGR team is ready and waiting to shake a leg and hear one/two good tunes down at ROOM TWO next month. Kicking off from 10PM, the launch will also see DJ sets from Ronnie Loko (Soho Radio, No Signal) and Sabrina-Anne (Oroko Radio). Wa Radio’s Ki Pharoah and MOTHALAND’s tsunami Tânia, will be keeping the crowd on vibes throughout the night.
