18-year-old singer-songwriter Valencia Grace's sophomore song ‘Goodbye’ is a lesson in the power of vulnerability. In both her revelatory lyrics and raw delivery, the London via Dorset artist embraces the intensity of her emotions, showing that she has no problem exploring painful feelings in the pursuit of truth and self-expression. It makes sense then, that she cites soul-baring stars such as Etta James, Aretha Franklin and Amy Winehouse as her influences:

"I'm inspired by these women who were unapologetically themselves," she says. "What I love about an artist like Amy is, watching clips of her performing live, it's like she's in a trance – she's so caught up in how she's feeling. I feel this particularly throughout the Motown era too. It's all I listen to!"

She adds, "You don't have to be perfect. You just have to feel the music."
