Sophia Alexa - Hit and Run [Video]

Following on from her debut single ‘House Of Cards’, and first single of 2022 ‘Kids’, newcomer Sophia Alexa is back with a brand new track. ‘Hit and Run’ hears the singer-songwriter continue with her love and admiration for folk rock singers like Joni Mitchel, Carole King, Stevie Nicks, and Neil Young, with its breezy instrumental rhythms and tender emotional-driven lyrics.

The remarkably cheerful melody and Sophia’s angelic vocals provide a rousing lift to a track with an otherwise sombre theme. Speaking on the release she shared, “I wrote ‘Hit and Run’ after I noticed myself feeling the need to escape every time I got too close to someone. I was afraid of feeling trapped or attached even if the relationship was positive. The escape felt like a defence mechanism and writing this song was a way to summarise that feeling.”

The accompanying video directed by Matthew Sterling captures the essence of the introspective single well, with brooding night time shots illuminated by vivid sparks of colourful lights and blurred movements.
