Psykhi - Rat Poison [Video]
Returning with his second single ‘Rat Poison’, taken from his forthcoming debut EP is Ghanaian born, London based artist Psykhi. Following the release of his debut single ‘White Picket Fence,’ the young artist delivers a fresh dose of grunge infused rock, with an extremely interesting subject matter.
‘Rat Poison’ is a candid insight into a conversation between a murderer and a witness to the crime. "It's a horror story in a song,” explains Psykhi. “I wanted to paint an intense scene that is reminiscent of gothic literature; to create a sense of wonder and terror, mirrored by the chaos and harmony of the guitars."
Created in collaboration with Nigerian artist and filmmaker Peter Spanjer, the visuals are an exploration of darkness and light, alongside the lyrics and musical sound. “I was really interested in the juxtaposition between the themes of the lyrics and the lightness of the sound which made me think about the role I wanted (red) light and darkness to play against each other,” explains Spanjer. “Within that, I started to discover and play with the shapes of Psykhi's body, which wasn't planned but became a focal point of the video and part of the story."
