With a collection of effortlessly cool laidback hip-hop, jazz and R&B influenced tracks already under their belt, GiddyGang are back with a new release featuring Norwegian-South African rapper and producer Vuyo. ‘Sour’ not only offers a modern take on an old school hip-hop sound, it carries an important message by exploring themes of racial identity, police brutality, love, relationships and inequality.

Backed by a collective of beatmakers, songwriters and session musicians, ‘Sour’ sees lead vocalist Sarah Nærø Pettersen’s melting vocals glide amongst the poignant verses and expertly layered instrumental elements.

The track hears Voyo deliver a message from the soul. Speaking of the writing process for the lyrics he said, "When we wrote ‘Sour’ I was in the midst of finishing up a trailer for a documentary about my parents’ involvement in the ANC and SWAPO during Apartheid. Everything coincided with the George Floyd-trial and a book about the fatal killing of Benjamin Hermansen here in Norway that just got released all in the same time period, so I had all these thoughts going through my mind at the time. So, I just tried to abbreviate my adolescence into a verse and get those feelings off my chest."
