Mahalia - Jealous feat. Rico Nasty [Video]
Mahalia and Rico Nasty have joined forces on their new song ‘Jealous’ and release the single alongside a sexy spy themed music video.
A nod to the 1998 crime movie ‘Belly’, the Melody Maker directed music video for the new single sees the international pairing teaming up to cause a little bit of mayhem in the home of a mystery man, perhaps in order to exact some extra savage revenge. ‘Jealous’ is Mahalia’s first single of 2021, while last May she released her EP, ‘Isolation Tapes’. Meanwhile, Rico Nasty, who recently collaborated with chillpill and Soleima on the sugary, sassy rap song ‘LiLBiTcH’, released her debut album, ‘Nightmare Vacation’, last December.
The girls make a mean double act, and it appears that the duo are just as happy as we are, that they got the opportunity to work side by side during these times. Mahalia explains, “I made ‘Jealous’ on a sunny day at the end of Summer last year. I was sat in the studio with Cadenza and Miraa May getting some stuff off my chest from the past few weeks. ‘Jealous’ was born pretty fast after chatting. It was a weird time… I was dealing with friends being super unsupportive about decisions I was making and I was struggling with navigating that. I’m really proud and excited about what came out in this song and I hope people love it in the same way we did when we wrote it. Rico Nasty is a badass and one of my favourite artists so getting her to feature was a huge moment for me!”
Rico Nasty adds: “Covid couldn’t stop shit! So happy to be a part of this record with Mahalia.”
