Lacoste launches its Solidarity Polo
Lacoste has just launched the ’L12.12 Polo Merci,’ a limited edition polo in which their turnover will be donated in full to the Lacoste Fund. This will support the Red Cross and Red Crescent around the world that have worked hard during this health crisis, with the support and commitment of their volunteers. The earnings will contribute to the protection of these volunteers.
The world has been threatened by the Covid-19 pandemic since December 2019 and a mixture of fear, optimism, compassion and anxiety has consumed our society. Many established fashion brands have been doing their part to raise money, awareness and support during this trying time for our healthcare and frontline workers. From redirecting time to create face masks, donating money to charities or sparking conversation, there’s been a wealth of support from the fashion industry.
Lacoste is one brand that has been doing their part since the pandemic started. Since March, Lacoste has made more than 200,000 fabric masks for local authorities and stakeholders, thanks to the voluntary commitment of its employees. Lacoste made their willingness to participate in the effort to help overcome Covid-19 clear from the beginning with their citizen commitments, and they continue to do so.
This limited-edition polo will feature a red heart around the iconic crocodile logo. The Lacoste crocodile has always been located in place of the heart, as a symbolic reference to the brands values. “This solidarity action illustrates how fashion can, at its own level, act in solidarity to serve the most exposed people,” specifies Thierry Guibert, Lacoste CEO.
