Using a seductive blend of R&B and bossa nova beats, watch rising-star Hope Tala in her new video for ‘Cherries’.

The emerging artist may have velvet-smooth vocals, but Hope Tala’s vision is one of strength and boldness. Nowhere is this better encapsulated than in her latest project ‘Girl Eats Sun’, an EP with a title that reflects the artist’s drive to create inventive, confident tunes from her stunning, sultry blend of Latin, soul, bossa-nova and R&B sounds. A single from the game-changing record, ‘Cherries’ is a warm, rhythmic tune to get you grooving. Hope’s silky voice is refreshingly dainty and contrasts smoothly with rap artist Aminé’s deep toned vocal as he delivers his sexually charged bars. The track’s mesmeric and lavishly stylised music video which portrays Hope looking royal ‘a f’ dressed glamorously as a high-ranking Tudor, further exemplifies Hope’s innovative creative vision - We can’t wait to see what more she has to offer.

Speaking on the track, Hope Tala explains, “Since I started writing music I’ve used fruit imagery; I’ve always been inspired by the Garden of Eden and the story of Adam and Eve. I think of ‘Cherries’ as being a really corporeal song - there’s a lot of lyrical content about how the body portrays feeling and emotion, and when I was writing it I used the symbol of cherries as my focal point to help me understand where these two worlds - material and emotional - collide.”
