Sampling has been a huge part of the music industry for many years. The idea of taking a complete thought, reworking it and coming up with something equally as good (or in some cases better) has always fascinated me. Whether it be, lyrics, parts of the instrumentation or flow, sampling has provided us with timeless songs.

Enter Lucky Daye with his first offering of the new year. Interpolating ‘Pony’ by Ginuwine, ‘Karma’ details the very important sub section of millennial dating. Passing up on someone who was into you, only to have the roles reversed. They have moved on to pastures new while Lucky claims the age old lie of “this time it’ll be different” and singing, “still don't know what you want / but I'm your biggest fan now.” With Parliament-esque funk to it, ‘Karma’ is bound to release your inner family reunion two-step - even if it might trigger you a little.
