Last month, producer, multi-instrumentalist, composer, songwriter and vocalist Devonté Hynes announced the release of his fourth album as Blood Orange, 'Negro Swan.' Following the critically acclaimed album 'Freetown Sound' released back in 2016, 'Negro Swan' will be released by Domino Records on August 24 2018.

Written and produced by Hynes, the new album sees a continuation of creative expression to document his own personal experiences of life as a black man in America. Speaking on this, Hynes stated...

“My newest album is an exploration into my own and many types of black depression, an honest look at the corners of black existence, and the ongoing anxieties of queer/people of color.  A reach back into childhood and modern traumas, and the things we do to get through it all. The underlying thread through each piece on the album is the idea of HOPE, and the lights we can try to turn on within ourselves with a hopefully positive outcome of helping others out of their darkness.”

Giving us a taster of what's to come, Hynes released not one but two visuals from the forthcoming album, 'Charcoal Baby' and 'Jewelry.' Both tracks intro with statements delivered by a female voice, giving the impression that the album could potentially be narrated throughout. 'Charcoal Baby,' delves into the hidden complexities of family life, showcasing a split screen of two differing cultural households, whilst 'Jewelry' speaks on the abilities to be the best you, that's ultimately possible - regardless of other peoples opinions and perceptions of who they think you are. Check out the two visuals below and be sure to pre-order or pre-save the album ahead of it's release later this month.
