Arlo Parks - Softly [Video]

Arlo Parks has shared her first offering of 2022 with luscious new single ‘Softly’. The twice-grammy-nominated, Mercury Prize and BRIT Award-winning artist captures a heavy heart on this release, with tender lyrics about a relationship dying out lifted by the upbeat, cheerful melody.

Her previous music videos have demonstrated Arlo’s iconic artistry, each one characterised by the attention to detail and creative design. The new visuals for ‘Softly’, directed by Zhang and Knight, show Arlo in a hazy nostalgia-ridden hue of 1960s romance movies, yielding her  illustration of bravery during those final few days in a relationship.

Speaking on the single Arlo shared that: “‘Softly’ is a song about yearning, about how fragile you feel in the dying days of a relationship when you’re still desperately in love. The song is about how it feels to brace yourself before the blow of a breakup and reminisce about the days where it all felt luminous.”

After receiving critical acclaim for her 2021 debut album Collapsed in Sunbeams, Arlo is now set to tour across North America alongside Clairo, ending the tour at Coachella in April.
