Raveena - Secret feat. Vince Staples [Video]

Following on from her sci-fi pop single ‘Rush’ is New York’s Raveena with the release of ‘Secret’. The new track aids the announcement of her sophomore album Asha’s Awakening, a conceptual album said to tell the tale of a space princess from ancient Punjab who, through a mystic narrative, learns about loss, healing and destruction.

‘Secret’ is an enigmatic number that boasts sultry lyrics and continues to play homage to her heritage, effortlessly blending contemporary R&B with elements from the South Asian diaspora. Featuring Vince Staples, ‘Secret’ is giving big naughties vibes, with its instant dance appeal and seductive imagery. Explaining the meaning of ‘Secret’ Raveena said:

“To me, ‘Secret’ is a song about love that traverses through different dimensions. People on Earth are starting to have sensual dreams ignited in them by a space princess – someone they feel like their body knows, but whom they also do not know and cannot reach in this dimension.”

The accompanying visuals were directed by Raveena herself and offer visual access to Asha’s “alien-like realm.” The futuristic Bollywood aesthetic captures Raveena as she suspends in a golden room while transcending in and out of her third eye.
