Bonobo - Shadows feat. Jordan Rakei [Video]

It’s not often that an artist captures a certain energy and aura with such accuracy but Simon Green’s body of work rarely falls short to do so. More commonly known by his moniker Bonobo, Green has now released the music video for his track ‘Shadows’ taken from his recently released and widely celebrated new album Fragments.

The track, which Green describes as “old school Detroity, Moodymann and Theo Parrish-inspired” adopts a more mellow approach, pulsing softly but still consistently evolving into pure euphoria. ‘Shadows’ features vocals from Jordan Rakei, who’s voice soothes the melancholy beat with lyrics that capture the depth of the track’s theme.

The BWTV-directed video has the same mesmerising energy, with kaleidoscopic effects and musical synchronisation. “Shadows are reflections of ourselves, our movements, whims, wants and urges,” shares BWTV speaking on the visuals. “We wanted to make a video that mediates on these ideas, using found, captured and created material to investigate the patterns and visual metaphors that emerge as we experimented with the footage.”
