Kurtis Wells - A Song About The Sun [Video]
Showing no sign of amateurism, Trinidad-born Berlin-based newcomer, Kurtis Wells, has released his debut single that offers his expertise as a songwriter, arranger and vocalist. ‘A Song About The Sun’ is rife with clean lines and kaleidoscopic dynamics that are reminiscent of the pioneers of modern psych-rock, Tame Impala.
Taking influence from the natural world outside at a time when the world was locked in their homes, Wells illustrates his fresh perspective through the lens of reflection and admiration. The track boasts hypnotising synth rock amongst lingering influences from soul and R&B, a clear statement of intent seen rarely from such a new artist.
Born in Trinidad, and following stints in Atlanta, New York and LA, he's spent the last year plus adjusting to his new home in Berlin, stewing in isolation. As a result, the beauty in the world around him has become even more clear when he sees it, with the new single being an ode to the appreciation of little moments - for life, light, and joy.
The release comes with visuals shot by directing team I AM HERE from rising filmmaking stable Iconoclast. The video also asserts the artist's musical maturity and creative depth.
