‘T.T.B (Take This Bullet)’, is a mellow sensual track tackling themes of revenge with a melancholy approach. The new single comes from Chicago-based alternative R&B artist, Mai, who flaunts a soulful sound that is both retro and authentic.

Born in Vietnam and then brought up in both Chicago and Indianapolis, Mai brings elements of her diverse childhood into every aspect of her music. ‘T.T.B’ is a jazz-influenced number that sits with a monotonous charm, using hazy guitar riffs and snare drum brushes as the background to Mai’s flawless looming vocals. The lyrics don’t shy away from the truth, reminding you of the toxicity of relationships while the relaxed melody helps retain inner peace.

The accompanying video is full of symbolic imagery, giving a visual representation of the threatening energy that lies amongst the themes of vulnerability and betrayal. The mesmerising scenes show flowers and fruit, followed by the destruction of them to remind you how easy it is to be hurt or damaged.
