WILLOW - t r a n s p a r e n t s o u l feat. Travis Barker [Official Music Video]

Following a dramatic performance video released last month, WILLOW’s now dropped the punky music video for her pop-rock hit ‘t r a n s p a r e n t s o u l’ featuring Travis Barker, AKA, Blink-182’s drummer. 

WILLOW’s music has taken an exciting turn of late. With legendary drummer Travis Barker heading-up the beat, the US artist takes a leaf from Paramore’s book, channeling noughties pop-rock and alternative vibes as she gives her unbridled view on fake friends and her ability to suss them out, over crashing guitars and head-banging percussion. WILLOW actually notes her mum, who of course is Jada Pinkett Smith, as the inspiration behind her decision to jump into this rockier genre, as the actor and wife to Will Smith herself fronted a nu-metal band called Wicked Wisdom back in the noughties. 

A very cool and fun mix of high-octane, punky and performative visuals, the video for ‘t r a n s p a r e n t s o u l’ sees WILLOW rocking out in full gothic and punk rock gear (black eyeliner, studded belts - the works!) and throws some sci-fi elements into the mix to keep things extra-exciting. It’s great to see the artist creating without constraints, and with her album set for release this Summer, it feels like Smith has more surprises to come.
