Elaine - Right Now [Video]
South African R&B star Elaine embraces putting herself first for her glossy new track ‘Right Now’.
‘Right Now’ shows that Elaine’s clearly in no mood for reconciliation. The sultry, trap-inflected single marks the artist’s first new song release since 2019's history-making EP, ‘Elements’, which was certified Platinum in South Africa, making Elaine the first independent female artist to ever reach #1 on the Apple Music Sub-Saharan African charts. Now a well known figure in her country, Elaine sets her sights on catching the interest of a wider audience in the US and beyond, and ‘Right Now’ sets the bar high. While the song’s lyrics express a swirl of mixed-emotions following a series of betrayals, the visuals capture a slightly different energy where Elaine is seen living her best life, partying, soaking up the sun on boats and looking like a million dollars while blanking messages from that unruly ex.
Reflecting on the single, Elaine explains, "This song is exactly what it means and feels like to welcome growth, celebrate being a confident woman and find comfort in independence. When making this song, I remember walking up to the mic with a lot of things I was carrying in my heart but had trouble communicating and relaying to others. After I recorded it, things changed for me. The concept of Love transformed from being a good lover to someone, to being a good lover to myself too."
