Jorja Smith and Shaybo play two hustling scam mechanics in the visuals for Jorja’s track ‘Bussdown’, a bittersweet single that touches on the highs and lows of success.
Don’t let the honey-smooth voice fool you, Jorja Smith is a wheeler-dealer with her eyes set firmly on the prize. A taste of the Brit singer’s acclaimed new project, ‘Be Right Back’, ‘Bussdown’ mixes a bustling afrobeat rhythm with funky guitar riffs while Jorja’s vocals delicately float above. The track has an understated, cool atmosphere that’s undoubtedly strengthened by the presence of South London rapper Shaybo, who steps in and emanates a sense of calm confidence as she imparts nuggets of wisdom on the price of fame. Filmed in Jorja’s hometown of Walsall in the West Midlands, the track’s visual captures Jorja and Shaybo using their feminine charms to sneakily get ahead in a masculine environment, doing so well that they spend their nights perusing diamonds to purchase at their leisure.
British director Fenn O'Meally explains, "As soon as Jorja sent over the track I knew there had to be a special concept for it... I remember the exact moment I thought about the two of them being mechanics.... I'm not sure why, maybe I've been mansplained to too many times, but it just is very epic to see two very beautiful and powerful women completely boss a very male dominated world. I'm so grateful to both Jorja and Shaybo for trusting a crazy concept and making it their own."
