South London’s legend-in-the-making ENNY unveils the new music video, directed by Otis Dominique, for her latest single ‘Same Old’.
With only four singles out, including the acclaimed, ‘Peng Black Girls’, it seems that nothing will stop rapper and vocalist ENNY from her speedy ascent as she establishes herself as one of UK hip-hop’s most exciting voices. Premiered as Annie Mac's Hottest Record of the World, ‘Same Old’ sees ENNY taking on the world with her characteristic no holds barred attitude, revealing her anger and pain towards the state of the Britain and the world at large, traversing topics such as Brexit, gentrification and the superficiality of modern life. Meanwhile, plucky strings and dynamic beat phrases make way for the rip-roaring chorus, where ENNY sings, “Cant keep going with the same / Tryna get the same old / Falling for the same old boys.” What on the surface may seem like a chirpy dig at the guys she can’t help but go for, easily doubles as a criticism of the patriarchal systems that are putting her on edge. However, ENNY’s ensured that the thought-provoking content doesn’t stop the track from being a wonderfully catchy and uplifting listen - Watch and enjoy below!
