Let us introduce you to artist Eden Rain, who today releases her beautiful debut single ‘Wake Up, You’re Stuck’.

Originally from Leeds and now based in London, Eden Rain makes her first big move towards the spotlight with a reflective and tender offering. This piano-led tune is peppered with the crackling sound of vinyl, blending analogue touches with more futuristic digital distortions. This soft backdrop lets Eden’s husky, understated vocals stand out amid the nostalgic soundscape, and allows her thoughtfully crafted, sensitive observations to slowly creep in, before suddenly jerking you awake with their pure poetic poignancy: “Couldn’t lie through my teeth, so I took them all out / Got so much more room for my foot in my mouth,” she sings for the tune’s chorus. For her influences, she lists the poeticism of spoken word artist Kate Tempest, the vibe of indie-leaning female artists like Beabadoobee and Girl in Red and the deeply evocative sound of Sufjan Stevens.

“For me, this song is the feeling of being eaten alive from the inside out,” explains Eden. “I wrote it after waking up from a nightmare when I had fallen asleep with Planet Earth on in the background. To me the song feels like a fight or flight situation: do I stay being eaten alive or attempt to save myself from all the things I’m running from?”

Eden also cites her unique worldview as the reason her songwriting hits a little different: “My parents once took my family on holiday in a campervan across Scandinavia. We drove over this amazing mountain pass and they all got out of the car to take a look at the view. They were staring out, in awe of the mountain landscape saying, ‘This is so amazing’, and I was like, ‘Yeah – look at all the cigarette butts on the floor!’” she laughs. “That’s when my mum told me I had ‘gutter vision’. I was more interested in the people who went to the mountains to smoke. I look at the world from the gutter upwards.”
