Oscar Scheller - I’m Enough feat. Katie Gavin [Audio]
London producer and indie-pop artist Oscar Scheller teams up with MUNA’s Katie Gavin for new single ‘I’m Enough’.
The smooth, uplifting track drops as we approach the release of Scheller’s ‘Boys Cry’ album, out on Feb 15th. The project promises to explore topics that are still widely regarded as no-go zones for men in the mainstream such as toxic masculinity, vulnerability and gender nonconformity, while also delving into Scheller’s own experiences with OCD, anxiety, depression & childhood trauma. Back on ‘I’m Enough’, Scheller lays down a juddering guitar line and lets his characteristically languid vocals lead us into a rousing synth-powered chorus. Katie Gavin joins the action a short way in, her light, husky tone adding a little sparkle to proceedings, resulting in indie-pop perfection.
Speaking on the single, Oscar explains "I was in New York as I'd flown out to see a girl there, but it didn't work out how I had imagined. I was super bummed and after aimlessly wandering the streets of Manhattan I wrote two songs and one was 'I'm Enough'. It was my response to the experience, a sort of conversation with myself to remind myself I am enough, with or without someone. No need for external validation or acceptance. It's really important to keep reminding yourself of that however "Live Laugh Love" it sounds, it's the gospel."
