Amethyst - Can’t Let Go [Audio]
Newcomer artist Amethyst has released her debut single ‘Can’t Let Go’. Boasting soulful vocals and old R&B production, this track lingers on the mind with a soothing effect. After winning a competition with Hypertribe, Amethyst was able to work with one of our faves Joy Crookes, who mentored her through the development and production skills of this single.
“This was really the first song I had written and produced that I felt comfortable enough to share with others to help develop it,” shares Amethyst on her debut. “I had been stuck in a rut for quite a while as to what direction I wanted to go in with my music but with this song, everything just seemed to come together at once. I want people to feel empowered when they listen to this track, it’s all about loving yourself, that feeling when someone can’t get enough of you because your love is like no one else’s.”
With a plethora of influences varying from the likes of Ella Fitzgerald, James Brown and Stevie Wonder to Lianne La Havas, Snoh Aalegra and H.E.R, Amethyst’s sound adopts a modern R&B/neo-soul feel with her rich jazz vocals and tender lyricism giving depth and maturity.
With an EP due for release early next year as well as more singles on the way, not much can be predicted for this rising star other than more music doused in talent.
