Obongjayar - Message in a Hammer [Video]

Obongjayar has returned with new single ‘Message In A Hammer’. Lyrically, it’s an empowering track about perseverance – on ‘Message In A Hammer’, Obongjayar’s familiar gravelly, raspy voice sings:

“We fight fire with fire/ We are the people/ We won’t sit and be quiet/ Government devils/ All of dem liars.”

‘Message In A Hammer’ is a thumping, guttural, loudly defiant track.

The single arrives with a cinematic, energetic music video directed by Rollo Jackson, who has previously worked with Danny Brown, Jamie xx and Future. The video sees Obongjayar play the role of the driver for an evil crime boss who has taken someone close to him. The creative, heavy visuals beautifully compliment the song’s themes, which follow Obongjayar as he triumphs in the face of adversity.

Speaking of the track, Obongjayar said: “Message In a Hammer is about fight, and fighting against the powers that take and steal and rob from us, and calling them by their name - thieves and murderers." ‘Message In A Hammer’ will appear on Obongjayar’s forthcoming debut album.
