Scribz Riley - Mandy [Video]
East London artist Scribz Riley continues to steadily build his rep as one to watch with the release of his third single, ‘Mandy’.
The 26-year-old singer-songwriter has already worked with some huge artists, including Cardi B, Khalid, H.E.R and J Hus and won two Grammy awards for his production and songwriting. His latest single, ‘Mandy’, is a hit of realism that reminds us that all good things must come to an end, especially when it gets to that yelling at each other in the car milestone. While the song’s contemplative lyrics focus on accepting when a relationship is over, sonically the tune is laid-back, breezing over Afrobeats and wrapped round a gentle R&B melody. The track has an impressive video that pairs well with the relationship drama central to the song, as a result of its dramatic and moody cinematography.
Speaking on the track, Riley said; “The song is about getting to that place in a relationship, where as much as you still love that person, you can feel it’s coming to an end. Sonically, I didn’t want the song to feel sad, I wanted it to reflect that moment of acceptance. As much as it is a sad time, you know it’s the right thing to do, so might as well turn up and move on.”
