Flatbush ZOMBiES - Afterlife [Video]
Brooklyn’s Flatbush ZOMBiES release their new song ‘Afterlife,’ produced by UK singer-songwriter and record producer James Blake, accompanied with an impressive x-ray styled music video directed by Arnaud Bresson.
After hearing that James Blake was a fan of the hip hop trio’s music, Erick the Architect made contact with Blake via twitter, leading to a meet up after a 2018 Flatbush ZOMBiES show in Los Angeles. From there, Blake and the ZOMBiES started collaborating on music and ‘Afterlife’ is the first track to surface from those music sessions.
Shot pre-pandemic in Paris, the music video directed by Arnaud Bresson, “took four months of work to find the perfect style,” states the director. Explaining that there is currently no technology to film x-ray, without potentially damaging the footage, the team ended up working alongside the post-production company to develop a technical device to achieve the same effect. “We used multi-camera tracking, recorded the positions and movements of our characters to extract and apply to our 3D compositions,” states Bresson. Clearly explains why the process took quite some time. It was definitely worth it though, the visual is out of this world!
