Rasharn Powell & AB001 - Smithereens [Video]

Splashing a dose of fresh UK R&B with an alternative approach, is London based artist Rasharn Powell. Following the recent release of ‘Joyride’ Rasharn delivers his latest single ‘Smithereens,’ a collaborative offering with AB001 - the artist moniker for producer Alessandro Buccellati.

Embodying elements of soul and funk, although ‘Smithereens’ lyrically taps into hurt and heartbreak the tracks upbeat groove carries a sense of joy and positivity, as Rasharn also speaks on the arrival freedom. “‘Smithereens’ was born from a level of uncertainty, on the border of unrequited love and freedom,” shares Rasharn on the new single. “It’s my account of the unease going through heartbreak to how I felt once past it.”

Speaking on the inspiration for the track, Rasharn shares more on its nostalgic presence, “‘Smithereens’ whisks me into my past to remind me of who I’ve become, a journey through trials and tribulations... Summers of biking everywhere with my friends from dawn till dusk, the song is a segment of my life’s soundtrack.”
