D Smoke & SiR - Lights On [Video]

Inglewood based rapper D Smoke releases outstanding visuals for his track ‘Lights On’ featuring his brother, SiR. The track of which is taken from Smoke’s ‘Black Habits’ album released earlier in the year.

Directed by Jack Begert, the visual plays out the events of a robbery gone wrong however, the scenes play out in reverse. The impactful visual showcases the perspective of the robber, played by Senegalese–American actress, writer and producer Issa Rae. As D Smoke kicks off the track performing in Spanish, the visual opens with himself, SiR and Issa Rae in a car targeted by gun shots.

Knowing how the scenario ends gives us as the viewer a huge sense of intrigue, as you are instantly locked in, to know how things got to this point. The visual is a very creative and intelligent take on the song which highlights the struggle and risks taken to stay a float in life and simply, keep the lights on.
