Ego Ella May - How Long 'Til We're Home [Video]
South London songwriter and vocalist Ego Ella May released her latest single ‘How Long Til We’re Home’ last month, now following up with the release of a beautiful visual, directed by Sheena Bonsu Brobbey.
Born in London to Nigerian parents, Ego Ella May shares details on the songs meaning around the lack of belonging, “the song is about feeling lost about your place in the world, it's about longing for somewhere that FEELS like home… I wondered where is home anyway? Too African for Britain, too British for Africa.”
The visual takes on an editorial style, shot in various locations around London, capturing stunning portraits of people in the capital. Ego sees her self on a tiresome journey, in search of home whilst the rest of the visual focuses on themes of multiculturalism, community and austerity.
‘How Long Til’ Were Home’ along with Ego’s prior release ‘Girls Don’t Always Sing About Boys,’ are taken from her forthcoming debut album ‘Honey For Wounds,’ due for release this spring via UpperRoom Records. On October 22 2020, Ego will perform live at The Courtyard Theatre, tickets are available to purchase here.
