PREMIERE: Nápoles - Slowzy [Video]
Raised in Stockholm, Sweden of Cuban and Russian decent, singer-songwriter Nápoles makes her introduction as a solo artist with her debut release ‘Slowzy.’ She’s no stranger to the music scene in Stockholm, as she’s commonly known as a music tastemaker, highlighting other talents from around the globe. As 1/3 of the popular Swedish based creative collective Ladieslovehiphop, Nápoles and her childhood friends Namarijana and Cc, have been spinning records, throwing an array of parties and musical experiences in Sweden since 2014. Now as a collective, the trio is tuning their focus to support the musical journey of Nápoles.
Fusing sounds of R&B, jazz and neo-soul, ‘Slowzy’ offers the most soothing piano lead, married with old skool drum patterns and the grooviest of bass lines. Nápoles’ vocal gives this track its pristine finish, with a bold yet sultry layer to this beautiful song about life and love.
There is something quite special about the music coming out of Sweden and I feel it’s due to its mix of worldly cultures. With the likes of Snoh Aalegra of Persian decent and R&B Singer Cherrie, originating from Somalia, the combustion of Swedish heritage together with differing cultural influences from the Middle East, Africa and now the Caribbean, I expect the offering of music from this melting pot of a country, to continue to develop and grow internationally at a very fast rate.
‘Slowzy’ by Nápoles is taken from the forthcoming EP ‘Slowin’ It,’ which is due for release this spring. You can stream ‘Slowzy’ on Spotify and enjoy the premiere of the official music video below.
