Pa Salieu - Energy feat. Mahalia [Video]

Pa Salieu is joined by Mahalia for the spirit-lifting track ‘Energy’, taken from his newly released mixtape ‘Send Them To Coventry’.

Fresh from his debut full-length project that has been the subject of widespread acclaim, Pa Salieu’s ‘Energy’ is a comparably breezy track selected from a mixtape that unflinchingly explores the dark side of his Coventry stomping ground. The young Gambian artist has understated, rich vocals which smoothly deliver his hard-earned wisdom to us over a light handed instrumental, featuring a skittering bass line via guitar and a laid-back dancehall tinged beat. UK soul singer Mahalia’s velvet vocals are a bonus on a track that already has plenty to offer. The track’s visual is for the most part an artistic black and white depiction of lives being led in the city - which brings focus especially onto black and POC individuals, who Salieu is likely addressing when he advises, ‘protect your energy’. Mahalia brings some warmth to the visual as well as the music, soothing the mood by frolicking with Salieu in the city.
