D Smoke - Rapture [Video]
D Smoke drops the extraordinary visuals to match his thought-provoking single ‘Rapture’, in an ode to Black women that highlights their importance, strength and power.
The Californian rapper has created a track and visual that powerfully speak for themselves. In ‘Rapture’, D asks us to “imagine a day without women”, stating “I bet your first thought was, who 'bout to take care of the children?" This is a refreshingly feminist rap track that emphasises how crucial it is for Black men to uplift Black women who are systemically and overtly under-appreciated and at times, demeaned in society. The video’s powerful black and white imagery reflects D’s carefully constructed bars, which weave his insights into a story, over emotive instrumentals and soulful backing vocals.
