I believe it was Dead Prez who once said, “one thing ‘bout music/when it hit, you feel no pain.” I don’t know if they were entirely right because there are times when I am listening to Octavian’s music, bopping my head along so violently that it feels like it is going to detach from my body. But I digress.
Fresh off his BBC Music Sound of 2019 win, Octavian gives us his first showing of the New Year in collaboration with Take A Daytrip, the New York production duo responsible for Sheck Wes’ breakout ‘Mo Bamba.’ New track ‘Stressed,’ sees Octavian going off on a kick drum heavy instrumental, the Black Butter release comes off the heels of Take A Daytrip’s announcement of a new project which is set to feature British artists.
If this is an indicator of what’s to come, the continual bridging of the gap between the UK and the US is going to be coloured with bangers and – unfortunately for me, a lot of neck pain.
