Apparently the most comfortable Air Max to date? Nike unveils the new Air Max 720
Be prepared, very prepared, for the most comfortable Air Max you’ve ever experienced. This is the news according to Nike, who this week unveiled the latest edition to the Air Max clan. It’s name? The 720. We’ll get to why later.
Bigger, bouncier and following in the footsteps of the ever popular ‘97, the new silhouette boasts a full length unit throughout the sole. But it’s USP comes through the inclusion of the tallest heel unit in Air Max history. The 720 “shatters previously held expectations of comfort” and falls under Nike’s lifestyle design category. This shoe is here to turn your everyday walk, jaunt, run to the bus into a stroll on cloud nine.
But it’s not just your feet that will be thanking you. The 720 also reinforces Nike’s commitment to reducing their impact on the environment, with more than 75% of materials used coming from recycled manufacturing waste. Refusing to let environmental responsibility impact improvement in science and design. It’s perhaps apt then, that the first renditions of this shape all claim inspiration from nature - with all upper textiles emulating the wonders of the world, and beyond. Lava flows, the Northern Lights, Sunrises, and the Milky Way all get a shout out.
The follow up to the Air Max 270, we can expect to see both these units on more of your favourite uppers in the coming months. The Jordan Proto-Max 720 is set for release in 2019 and it’s got our attention.
