Serious Klein - Voodoo Money [Video]

Germany’s most promising Ghanaian underground rapper Serious Klein, shared the second instalment of his trilogy of songs with the word ‘money’ in its title. New single ‘Voodoo Money’ produced by Rascal, depicts a life of sin and redemption.

Serious Klein along with his camp The Family Tree, teamed up with film production house Hush and Hype to visualise a grounded message which transcends all audiences. The rapper’s hard-hitting verses highlight the deviations people often take in acquiring money, sex and power, entrapping themselves in a sinful system.

In a recent interview, Klein said "The visuals are something you have to watch twice to understand” and he isn’t wrong. The unsettling cinematography heightens the narrative Klein is portraying, by using clever cutaways and symbolic sequences. We are first given the glimpse of a man that surrounds himself with worldly enchantments; taking hold of him like he was under voodoo magic. The second half of the video introduces the concept of redemption, the shaving of the head, the baptism, symbolising the washing away of a brainless state in hope of recovery. Klein is often referred to as an artistic rapper, this art piece for a video proves why.

‘Voodoo Money’ follows the release of ‘Coochie Money,’ back in June. Both singles are taken off Klein’s highly-anticipated album ‘You Should’ve Known’ expected to be released 19th October 2018.
