VanJess - Control Me [Video]

VanJess, the Nigerian-American sister duo Ivana and Jessica Nwokike have released their video for ‘Control Me’ featuring bone-breaking dancer Nicholas ‘Slick’ Stewart, who recently appeared on Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s ‘Ape Shit’ video.
 
The visuals for ‘Control Me’ show Slick’s car break down in the middle of a long all-American road, which leads him to get out of the vehicle and yes, you’ve guessed it, break out into a trance like dance sequence. As Slick dances his way into a field of orange trees and scenery seclusion, we see VanJess appear between scenes, delivering their alluring vocals between shots of sunset and oranges.
 
In a recent interview, VanJess said they were inspired by artists like H.E.R and Jorja Smith and you can certainly hear a similar style of music on their debut album Silk Canvas. The album is fuelled with 90’s inspired R&B, remixed with contemporary electronic symphonies.  The gap in the market for electro R&B fusion is yet to be heavily populated, which makes now a great time for artists like VanJess to showcase their talent for this stunning genre.
