Grace Carter releases moving visuals for her new single ‘Why Her Not Me,’ as she tells her story of facing rejection from her father.

Straying away from traditional songs about love, Carter’s new single ‘Why Her Not Me’ explores the isolation felt after her father abandoned her at childhood for a new family. The description of the video reads a personal message from Carter herself, “I wrote this song about my father choosing another life over raising me. This video represents the literal and emotional journey I took, only to find out he wanted them and not me.”

The video shows us a young Grace Carter taking a long walk from a bus stop, as she walks along changing backdrops, she transitions into a teenager and then finally her current self. Carter’s final destination happens to be in front of her father’s new home, she stands outside the window looking in, seeing her father raise a new family. The emotive lyrics, performed by Carter’s strong and gritty vocals really drive home her message, that fathers can break your heart too.

Having supported the likes of Dua Lipa and Jorja Smith on tour, Grace Carter is easily the next big British artist to look out for.
